"Roho Mtaka-what!?": Explaining Miracle Babies

"Roho Mtaka-what!?": Explaining Miracle Babies

Ever wondered what the pregnancies of Jesus and John the Baptist were like? Did Mariam and Elizabeth get morning sickness like with any other pregnancy? How in the world did Mariam explain a miracle pregnancy courtesy of The Holy Spirit?

In The King & The Code's most recent production, The King & The Code: Christmas Edition 2025, Victoria Valentine took on the role of Mariam, the mother of Jesus, while Editha Pius portrayed Elizabeth, the mother of John, as they merged divinity and motherhood in a scene that portrayed the miraculous works of God.

Together, these powerful women brought to life one of the most mind-boggling stories ever told - two women, two unexplainable pregnancies, and two births that changed history forever.

In the live stage play that took place 19-20 December 2025, Victoria (as Mariam) helps us see a perspective sometimes overlooked when we read this story in the Bible: what happened when Mariam told Yusufu she was pregnant?

A dramatic miracle birth scene from The King & The Code

That is where we get the famous line in the play, "Roho Mtaka-what?", which vaguely translates in English as "Holy Who?" - referring to The Holy Spirit. This line is found in the final episode of Season 2 of The King & The Code, the series - a post-production of the live stage play - available for free on our website.

Acting out faith, trust and dependence

All things considered, for Victoria and Editha, this was not just a role centered around motherhood. It was a bold portrayal of faith, trust, and the power of God's promises. The Bible writes,

"And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord." (Luke 1:45 KJV)

Imagine the courage it took for Mariam - a young girl, engaged to be married, in a community that stones to death anyone caught in fornication - to first accept the news that she would carry the Saviour of the world, then put her life on the line by telling another person, not knowing how they would react. And Elizabeth, after years of longing, finally holding the child who would pave the way for the Messiah. Their journeys remind us that with God, nothing is impossible. (Luke 1:37)

God is on stage!

This portrayal of faith needs the Help of the Holy Spirit to be truly understood during our Bible studies. We at The King & The Code, with the Help of the same Holy Spirit, are committed to communicating the Word, faith, trust in God, and His manyfold natures using creative arts to give you a visual expression of the Holy Word of God.

Editha and Victoria's excellent ministration in The King & The Code: Christmas Edition 2025 was a loud expression of what we aim to accomplish as a creative arts ministry.
